Chapter 3
After the performance, Yangyang and Ten wrapped up the taping and prepared to leave. As Yangyang was about to get into his car, Ten suddenly stopped him.
“You know,” Ten started, crossing his arms. “I’ve noticed something.”
Yangyang raised an eyebrow. “What?”
“You’re fond of JL,” Ten said bluntly. “I can see it. Just… don’t make it too obvious. It wouldn’t look good if the other members started noticing.”
Yangyang was caught off guard. He stayed quiet for a moment, processing Ten’s words before finally giving a small nod. Without another word, he got into his car, and Ten walked away.
As Yangyang drove, Ten’s words echoed in his mind. Was I really being obvious? He exhaled sharply, gripping the steering wheel tighter. His thoughts drifted to JL, how he worked tirelessly in practice, his determination, the way sweat clung to his skin as he pushed himself beyond his limits. The way his eyes lit up whenever he nailed a routine, the way he hung onto Yangyang’s every word, eager to improve.
Then, there was that smile. Effortless, bright, something that lingered in Yangyang’s mind longer than it should have.
His chest felt tight. He blinked, realizing how deep he had sunk into his thoughts. Frustrated with himself, he suddenly hit the brakes. His heart was pounding, though he wasn’t sure why.
“No way…” he muttered under his breath, shaking his head. He gripped the wheel, exhaling slowly before continuing his drive, pushing those thoughts aside, at least for now.
Meanwhile, the members were already back in the practice room, going over their routines. They were focused, determined to improve.
A staff member walked in and clapped their hands to get everyone’s attention. “Just a heads-up, Ten and Yangyang will be coming later to check your progress.”
The room buzzed with quiet anticipation. JL tightened his fist. He had to be ready.
No mistakes. He exhaled and nodded to himself.
