Steven Route Ch 3

Chapter 3 Choice 2: Break into Steven’s Space to Confront Him

Steven Route Ch 3

JL doesn’t hesitate. The second he hears what happened, he heads straight for Steven’s room, determination in every step. He knocks, once, twice, then again, harder this time. Nothing.

Fine.

With a deep breath, he pushes the door open without waiting for permission.

Steven is on the floor, back against the wall, shadows clinging to his face. His sharp, always-composed expression is gone, replaced with something hollow. He looks up, startled at first, then pissed.

“What are you doing here?” His voice is rough, exhaustion laced between the words. “Just leave me alone.”

JL crosses his arms, unmoving. “No. Not happening.”

Steven’s jaw tightens. “JL—”

“I’m not leaving you like this,” JL cuts him off. “You think shutting us out is gonna fix anything? You think carrying all this alone makes you stronger? It doesn’t. It just makes you alone.”

Steven’s glare falters, just a little. But it’s enough for JL to press on.

“We’re a team, Steven. You don’t have to do this by yourself.”

The words hang in the air, thick with frustration, anger, and something deeper—fear. Steven’s walls are strong, but even they have limits. And right now, they’re breaking. His breath shudders, his shoulders drop, and then finally, he lets go.

The weight of failure, fear, exhaustion, all of it comes spilling out. And this time, he doesn’t hold it in.

The confrontation is raw, filled with frustration, anger, and unspoken fears. Eventually, Steven breaks down, the weight too much to bear alone. He admits his feelings of failure, fear, and exhaustion.
